“I trust you, I believe you, I love you” These phrases are synonymous. Imagine this: A stranger just ran off the street, with a bag in hand. Panting and looking over their shoulder. With beads of sweat on their brow, they gave that bag to you, then and ran off. You would have a hard time trusting that the contents in the bag were safe.
Sometimes this is how we treat God. We reverence and honor Him as God or Savior. But treat Him like a sketchy stranger. If we only knew that His gifts for us are perfect and are received through faith; through trusting and believing Him. Abraham had to come to this realization, or he would have never received his promise.
Romans 4:19-20 KJV
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
What caused Abraham to consider not, or stagger not, at his circumstances? It was his strong faith in God mixed with giving Glory to God. When situations come we need to immediately take them to God and give them to Him. When sickness plagues your body or your bank account looks dryer than the Sierra; go to God. And give glory to God, not for the test and trial, but because He is Faithful.
Why?
Because He is Faithful. You may not feel His faithfulness at that moment but faith goes deeper than feelings. Faith is a matter of the heart.
Remember His goodness to you in times past. You may say “It hasn't ever been good” Well friend, you woke up this morning, didn't you? Your lungs and heart are working so that life is still in your bones. You also have the cognitive ability to process this Daily Devotional. All of that (and so much more) are evidence of God's mercy, grace, and loving-kindness towards you.
Have Faith in God. Mark 11:22.
Faith comes where the will of God is known. God’s will is to bless you in every area of your life. He has faith in you. He trusts you will the gifts He has placed on the inside of you. He believes in you, that with His help you will fulfill all that He called you to do. And most importantly, He loves you. He is a personal God. Dare to take Him at His Word today and have unwavering faith.
