The Wisdom Of GodJohn 8:2-11 New International Version (NIV) v2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. v3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group v4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. v5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now, what do you say?” v6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. v7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” v8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. v9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. v10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” v11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

This story of Jesus is truly remarkable. Many people don't realize that Jesus was preaching when this story started. Imagine you are in the middle of a sermon that you have spent hours preparing for, and you are rudely interrupted by an angry mob. And this rude group of people had a scarcely dressed women and a loaded question for you. Not real enough?

Imagine that you're a single mother of small children. You have a mountain of laundry and a horde of dishes piling up. The amount of dust and pet hair is starting to make you sneeze. One child has made the bathroom sticky. With cleaning utensils in hand, you hear them all run from the living room area to the front yard. You look down the hall to see that the youngest has fallen. You obviously go help them. Suddenly, you hear the oldest yelling in pain. Panic cuts through your chest and with the little one in hand you run outside to see. To your horror, your oldest had broken his arm, when he fell from a tree. In that moment of distress, ...let’s pause.

We all need the wisdom of God. When Jesus stooped down in the sand, He was taking a second to ask God for wisdom. He didn't need to fast and pray, that wisdom was already in Him; in the person of the Holy Spirit within Him. Consequently, we don't need to have the Pastor or Deacon ask God for us. We need to ask Him boldly for ourselves. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you have that same Spirit of wisdom that Jesus has. You can ask God for wisdom at any time, even when you have to make a split-second decision. And He will answer.

James 1:5 KJV “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

God always gives us what we ask, according to His Word. The only thing you have to tend to is if you are in the position to receive your answer. In the area of wisdom, if your connection with God has been strained, you won’t hear His instructions as quickly.

You always have a connection to Him, but sin and carelessness can cause your receivers (spiritual ears) to be clogged. He is always speaking; can you hear Him? Can you hear him, when the bills are piling up and your hours at work are getting cut? Can you hear Him, when you and your spouse get into a fight and they walk out of the house in frustration? Can you hear His unfailing wisdom when you see someone that is hurting and may need an encounter with Jesus?

Spend time in His Word today and develop that connection, so in every situation, you will remember to ask for wisdom. And you will be open to hearing His timely response.
